The largest single piece of white opal of gem quality
weighs 26,350 carats and was found in July 1989 at the Jupiter Field at
Coober Pedy in South Australia. It has been named Jupiter Five and is
privately owned. Steve Mr. Opals Zagar found himself a reluctant
international celebrity in 1990 with his discovery of the Jupiter Five
Opal recorded in Guinness Book of Records as the World's Largest and
Persephone Opal.
