Jasper is microcrystalline quartz and is made from very small grains, it
is a semi-translucent to opaque. Jasper has been used for thousands of
years as tools and weapons during prehistoric times and for
ornaments and jewellery later. Origin of name from the Greek iaspis.
Jasper is commonly found in the regions of North Africa, Sicily, France,
India, Venezuela and Germany, USA etc.
